Rubber inboard engine mounts: I am trying to find replacement rubber mounts for a Volvo MD5B inboard engine (serial no. 25102) stern end.
My local Volvo Penta dealer in Messina, Italy kindly supplied me with a diagram from the parts catalogue and the part I ordered was no. 840547-4. However, although the items received were identical in length but substantially larger in diameter (75mm) than the ones currently fitted (47mm) and will not fit in the space available as it interferes with the shoulder. This is a great problem as these elements will soon need replacing because they are clearly showing signs of fatigue. Could anyone please advise me if there is an alternative part no. which has the diameter I require – not more than 55 mm – and confirm that it is designed for transverse mounting as shown in the diagram. In the event that Volvo Penta cannot supply this part is there any other manufacturer that may be able to do so?
