Hello IF owners,
What is the official Spinnaker size for IF Boat?
Can I use a H-Boat (H-vene) 36 m2 Spinnaker to start with?
What is the Spinnaker Boom recommended length?

Re: Spinnaker size
Accordning to official boat data the spinnaker area is 36 m2.
Accordning to the swedish SRS-rule the area is 31.4 m2.
Check the measurements with the class rule, page 24-25! I suppose an H-Boat spinnaker is of similar size. I have not checked, though.
In the class rule you will also find the spinnaker pole length, maximum 2530 mm.

Re: Spinnaker size
Hei Johan,
Thanks for the fast answer!
This is a good news, as I can find for this summer here in Finland a H-Boat spinnaker, which is also 36m2.
I wish you great wind!

Re: Spinnaker size
The size of the spinnaker (and also other sails) are mostly estimations and thus dependent of the formula or estimation used.
Calculated for SRS, the spinnaker areas for IF-boat and H-boat are found to be very close (31,36 sqm versus 31,63 sqm). Anyhow, for the H-boat the spinnaker leech lengths are shorter but the foot and half widhts are larger.
The figure 36 sqm (the same for IF and H-boat) is information given by sailmakers based on how much cloth is being used to make a sail.

Re: Spinnaker size
I also wander on the spinnaker pole size (max) in length: 2530 (rule F7.6) or 2560 mm? measured how? extremity to mast? Extreme to extreme? Center of the eyelet to center of the eylet? Can we see the method of measure on a drawing?

Re: Spinnaker size
Spar measurements are according to World Sailing ERS, i.e. for the spinnaker pole it is measured separately and extreme from outer end to opposite outer end for the spinnaker pole.
So for measuring the spinnaker pole you do not need to have access to the boat and any correct pole will suite any boat.
